BP plc invests £750,000 in scholarships at The University of Nottingham
PA 21/09 Global energy company BP plc has donated £750,000 to The University of Nottingham to support students over the next three years. Hundreds of undergraduates and postgraduates at the University will benefit from scholarship awards to help them reach their potential and achieve excellence in a range of academic fields. Many scholarship recipients will be the first in their family to have entered higher education; others will be awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement, through the BP International Scholarship Programme at The University of Nottingham. Neil Morris, Technology Vice-President for Refining at BP plc, Emma Hardaker-Jones, Head of Resourcing, and Anna de St Croix, Graduate Resourcing Manager, visited The University of Nottingham on January 28 to meet Vice-Chancellor Professor David Greenaway and attend a presentation to this year's scholarship winners. In the 2008-9 academic year alone, more than 120 students are directly benefiting from financial support offered under the programme. Hundreds more will receive support in the same way in 2009-10 and 2010-11. The company has invested £750,000 in scholarships, primarily for students in the Faculties of Science and Engineering, the School of Economics and Nottingham University Business School.
