The Universities of Bonn and Cologne are collaborating to support researchers facing the war in Ukraine or persecution in Russia and Belarus due to their opposition to the war. The new Academy will promote European integration and strengthen region-specific knowledge. The University of Cologne and the University of Bonn, two of the largest German universities located in North Rhine-Westphalia, have jointly launched the Cologne/Bonn Academy in Exile (CBA). Its aim is to support the research work of renowned researchers who had to flee their home countries due to Russia's war against Ukraine. The Academy invites researchers from Ukraine to continue their work at Cologne and Bonn. However, it also supports others affected by this war. This includes researchers who are being persecuted due to their opposition to the war, e.g., from Belarus and Russia.
