02/21/2017 - The "Gründungsradar" (start-up radar) of the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft ranks the Julius Maximilians University (JMU) among the top large universities in Germany. The Gründungsradar evaluates the general conditions and profiles of German universities aimed at supporting start-ups at the institutions. The focus is on how universities promote the start-up of businesses and the development of entrepreneurial skills. Overall the University of Würzburg ranked among the top ten of large German universities, i.e. such institutions where more than 15,000 students are enrolled. This represents a significant improvement compared to 2012 and 2013 when the radar study was conducted for the first time. "Over the past years, we have intensified the start-up support at the SFT by collaborating closely with the research funding, the invention and patent consulting and the general knowledge and technology transfer. This has allowed us to provide comprehensive service and support to persons who want to start up their own business.
