On Thursday, 14 November, Prof. Wendelin Werner from ETH Zürich will give insight into his current research. The scientist was awarded the Fields Medal in 2006, which is known as the Nobel Prize in mathematics. The Cluster of Excellence Mathematics Münster and the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Münster invite all interested persons to the public lecture entitled "From Brownian loops to fields". The talk is part of the series "John von Neumann Lecture". Time and place: 4:30 pm, lecture hall M5, Einsteinstraße 64, Münster. Information about Prof. Wendelin Werner It was not always clear that the French citizen, born in Cologne in 1968, would embark on a scientific career: as a teenager, Wendelin Werner had a part in the film "La passante du Sans-Souci", Romy Schneider's last film, because the crew was searching for a young violinist. But mathematics fascinated him more than the film business.
