Indian High Commissioner to visit Durham University The Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Mr Ranjan Mathai, will visit Durham University on Monday 5 May to deliver a talk about the resurgence of India and its foreign policy. With the world's largest democracy in the middle of polling season, the timing of the visit is particularly pertinent. The High Commissioner has been invited by the debating society, Durham Union Society, which is renowned for hosting talks by inspirational people from a range of different fields. Examples of recent speakers include former Labour Party politician David Miliband, eminent medic and presenter Professor Lord Robert Winston, London Mayor Boris Johnson and journalist and Durham alumnus Jeremy Vine.
