International Lecture Series 2011: "Achieving a sustainable and sustaining built environment"
The Interdisciplinary Centre of Spatial Simulation and Modelling, Department of Spatial Development, Infrastructure and Environmental Planning invites to the International Lecture Series 2011 presenting international accredited scientists and planners. The lectures will take place at the Günther Feuerstein lecture room, HS 14A from 6pm - 7.30pm. It is therefore our pleasure to present you: 03/11/2011 - Nikos Salingaros, University of Texas at San Antonio, USA - Lecture: "Principles of Urban Structure" - Prof. Nikos A. Salingaros is a mathematician and polymath known for his work on urban theory, architectural theory, complexity theory, and design philosophy. He has proposed an alternative theoretical approach to architecture and urbanism that is more adaptive to human needs and aspirations, and that combines rigorous scientific analysis with deep intuitive experience. Salingaros is a long-time partner of Christopher Alexander. 10/11/2011Pierre Frankhauser, Université de Franche-Comté, France - Lecture: "Multiscale-Multifractal Planning" - Prof. Pierre Frankhauser is a physicist and geographer. He is one of the pioneers of fractal analysis of urban patterns.
