International neonatal neurology and therapeutic hypothermia symposium

UCL will host the first ever International Symposium on Neonatal Neurology and Therapeutic Hypothermia in India next month.

The Symposium, which takes place in New Delhi on 15 December and in Cochin, Kerala on 19?20 December, aims to provide a thorough understanding of the pathogenesis, treatment, imaging and electrophysiological investigations in the newborn with perinatal brain injury. In addition to lectures by world-class experts in the field, there will be workshops in cranial ultrasound, EEG and the use of cooling devices.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the concept of neuroprotection and the need for rigorous monitoring and assessment of clinical outcome to ensure this is optimal. This symposium also presents an opportunity for discussion with international experts of any issues directly related to the work of the delegates.

The UCL Institute for Women’s Health will be hosting the event in India to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and skills in the use of cranial ultrasound, electroencephalography, magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy, neuroprotection and neurodevelopmental evaluation for high risk babies.

The course is aimed at neonatologists, paediatricians, paediatric neurologists and radiologists, and neonatal care nurses.
