At the start of the winter semester, thousands of young people from all’over the world will once again commence their studies in Bonn. As every year, international students in particular are facing the urgent question of how to find affordable housing, many of them having to count every penny.

"We ask you to help young students find affordable accommodation in Bonn," University management, the Studierendenwerk and the General Students’ Committee (AStA) write in a jointly published statement. "Let rooms and apartments to students and/or allow your tenants to sublet to students at a reasonable price. Because every free room can help, even if it is only for a transitional period at the beginning of the semester or for one or two semesters. Use the AStA’s private accommodation service to let rooms to students."

This service helps young students free of charge and with the minimum of fuss. Landlords are welcome to place their advertisements there for free if they would like to let one or more rooms to students at a reasonable price. This can be done in person, by telephone or by e-mail. Both landlords and students can also find out about the "Wohnen für Hilfe" ("Housing for help") project and register for it at the AStA’s office. "Wohnen für Hilfe" brings together students and older people who offer affordable living space for help in everyday life.

Thank you for your help!
