The royal wedding in 1863.
King's College London cordially congratulates Prince William and Catherine Middleton on their marriage and sends them the College's warm good wishes for their future. Prince William and Miss Middleton have personally chosen university access charity Into University as a recipient of their charitable gift fund to help celebrate their wedding. The founder and Chief Executive of the charity, Dr Rachel Carr, completed her BA, MA and PhD at King's, and the College's Access Agreement, just submitted to OFFA (Office for Fair Access), features IntoUniversity as one of its key strategic partners on widening participation and fair access. Historic. The College's celebrations for the royal wedding will not be on quite the same scale as they were in 1863, when King's marked the marriage of the Prince of Wales (later Edward VII) and Princess Alexandra of Denmark, by displaying a 50-foot-high gas-jet illumination around its entrance in the Strand, London WC2.
