Magdalen College wins University Challenge for fourth time

A team from Oxford's Magdalen College has beaten the University of York in the Final of the University Challenge competition. This is the fourth time Magdalen has won University Challenge - no other institution has won it more than two times. The team was made up of undergraduates Matthew Chan and Will Cudmore and graduates Kyle Haddad-Fonda and James McComish. Magdalen College, Oxford managed to maintain their early lead and won with 290 points to York University's 85 points. The award was presented by author and historian Antony Beevor. Magdalen's team set a new record for the most University Challenge wins by a single institution, having previously won the trophy in 1997, 1998 and 2004. Professor David Clary, President of Magdalen College, said: "We are extremely proud of our Magdalen College team winning University Challenge for a record fourth time.
