Meet some of our new graduates
Last week saw more than 1700 undergraduate and postgraduate students take home their degrees from ANU. Each of them has a unique story. Amir Jilani - Graduating with a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Commerce, Amir is embarking on an international quest to help create opportunities for economic development in conflict zones. During his time at ANU, he participated in the highly-selective IARU Global Summer Program at UC Berkeley, where he developed a project that helped found Roots for Tomorrow, a global student-led initiative designed to promote education in war zones. Originally from Pakistan, his project focused on his home country and Afghanistan but he's keen to build his knowledge to help break the cycle of poverty in other war-afflicted areas. Jamie Pittock - Going back to studying after 15 years can be a daunting experience. But once Jamie had overcome his initial shock at how much technology had changed, he found that the wealth of available information just fed his passion for reaching a sustainable future quicker.
