The rankings, announced today, come just a month after the University of Melbourne was ranked 54th in the world and first in Australia in the Academic Rankings of World Universities (ARWU). They also come a week after the Times Higher Education supplement listed its Alma Mater Index: Global Executives 2013 in which the University of Melbourne was the only Australian university ranked in the top 100. The Index ranks universities according to how many of their alumni are now CEOs of Fortune 500 companies. 'Vice-Chancellor Professor Glyn Davis said the QS results highlighted the University's increasingly impressive international standing. "This latest rankings success is a credit to the many researchers and professional staff whose work contributed to the University's continued rankings success," he said. "It is positive to see the University continues to increase its standing in this and other international rankings." Two of the University's study areas have been named in the top 20 in the world.
