Most influential researchers announced

Two ANU academics have been named in the top 12 most influential Australian researchers by global data corporation Thomson Reuters. Professor Kurt Lambeck of the Research School of Earth Sciences and Professor Greg Stuart, Head of the Department of Neuroscience at The John Curtin School of Medical Research, were announced as recipients of the 2012 Thomson Reuters Australia Citation Awards at an event held at the National Press Club last week. The award acknowledges the researchers' place at the top of their respective fields of geoscience and neuroscience. Candidates were selected on the basis of both the volume and impact of their scholarly contributions. The award winners were those academics with the highest number of citations per piece of published research over the last decade according to the Thomson Reuters scientific journal database Web of Science. Professor Stuart said he felt honoured to be recognised in this way. "I am pleased and somewhat surprised to get this award.
