National Hospital celebrates its 150th Anniversary
This summer the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) celebrates its 150th anniversary. This slideshow takes a look back at the people and the procedures that have made it such a pioneering institution today. The NHNN, which is based in Camden, is one of the world's leading centres for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with a wide range of neurological conditions including multiple sclerosis (MS), brain cancer, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, stroke, Alzheimer's disease and head injury. NHNN manager Jackie Sullivan said: 'We hope that everyone will join us in celebrating our 150th anniversary: patients, staff, visitors, local residents and all those who have contributed to the National Hospital in some way.' 6 July 4:30?6pm - NHNN Open Event for staff, patients and local residents. Mayor of London Boris Johnson will unveil the foundation stone of the Brain Tumour Unit as part of the event. July, 6:30pm '12 midnight - The staff summer party will be held on the lawns of London Zoo where there will be a BBQ and live music. Tickets are available at a discounted price of £25. November - Lectures on neurology and neurosurgery over the years will be held in the Lecture Theatre at 33 Queen Square, and will be followed by a reception.
