Hugues Abriel © zvg - The Cantonal Government has elected a new Vice-Rector to the Executive Board of the University. As of 1st January 2022, Hugues Abriel will take over the Vice-Rectorate Research. The Cantonal Government has elected a replacement for the Vice-Rector for Research and appointed Hugues Abriel as a new member of the University Executive Board. The election was conducted at the request of the Education and Culture Directorate and the Senate of the University of Bern. As of January 2022, Hugues Abriel will take over the Vice-Rectorate Research. He succeeds Daniel Candinas, who steps down at the end of 2021. As former Director of the Department for BioMedical Research and the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, Hugues Abriel has longstanding knowledge of the university and extensive leadership experience.
