Alternative powertrain systems reduce greenhouse gas emissions in freight transports: Migros operates hydrogen and biogas trucks. Image: Migros - The navigation software group HERE is taking over a software tool developed by Migros and Empa and making it available worldwide. The tool can be used to calculate the CO2 emissions of trucks with different powertrain systems for any route. It can show logistics companies worldwide on which routes hydrogen, electric, biogas or biodiesel trucks can be used and how low their CO2 emissions are compared to diesel-powered trucks. Converting truck fleets to renewable energy is a goal of many fleet operators worldwide. This has also been recognized by HERE, a global navigation software company; the company is a joint subsidiary of German automakers Audi, BMW and Daimler. Intel, Bosch, Continental and the Chinese Tencent Group are also shareholders.
