For five days, physics-loving high school students will gain deep insights into the exciting world of quantum physics. The summer college consists of lectures, a project work and practical experiments, plus an entertaining social program. For the young men and women, who come from all over Germany, the participation fee of 99 euros includes accommodation in the Ilmenau youth hostel with half board and meals in the university canteen. Information and registration (until August 31): www.tu-ilmenau.de/physiksommer "Something with quanta!" - that could be the answer of young high school graduates to the question: What do you want to study? Given the rapid developments in quantum technologies in areas such as computers, communications or cryptography, experts in quantum physics are increasingly needed. With the Physics Summer 2023, the TU Ilmenau wants to further kindle enthusiasm, especially among high school students who are taking physics advanced courses, physics advanced subjects, or special science classes, and attract them to study in Ilmenau. With three challenging units that build on each other, the summer college will challenge the young people: Well-founded introductory lectures by lecturers from the Institute of Physics will lay the foundation for the topics of the project work, which, at half of the college, will take up the largest share in terms of time.
