Psychologist appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic)
Leading educator and social networks expert Professor Pip Pattison has been appointed to the new position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at the University of Melbourne. Professor Pattison was previously Pro-Vice Chancellor (Learning and Teaching) at the University of Melbourne. She is a Professor of Psychological Sciences and has worked and researched extensively on mathematical models for social networks and their impact on social behaviour. She was President of the Academic Board in 2007-2008 and Head of the School of Behavioural Science in 2003-2004. In 1998-1999, Professor Pattison was a visiting Adjunct Professor at the Paul F. Lazarsfeld Center for Social Sciences at Columbia University. In 2002 she was awarded the Simmel Award from the International Network for Social Network Analysis. She was elected a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia in 1995.
