Public invited to share their views on creativity

Members of the public are invited to share their views on the role creative thinking and creativity play in their lives in a new questionnaire. The short questionnaire is part of the Durham Commission on Creativity and Education which is a joint project between Arts Council England and Durham University. The Commission would like to hear from people across the UK and beyond to explore what already works well and where there might be gaps in what is currently provided. The questionnaire asks people among other things to share what helps and limits them to be creative, whether creativity is valued, and what creativity means to them. The questionnaire, which will run until the end of July 2018, will be followed by further detailed investigations and a final report in the autumn of 2019. As part of the wider research, the benefits of a creative education will be looked at within the following themes: economic growth, skills, and social mobility; community identity and social engagement; and personal fulfilment and well-being. The research will also draw evidence from existing literature and identify examples of best practice within education, the arts and cultural sector and businesses.
