Five ANU-led projects have been awarded a total of $1.6 million in the ARC Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities scheme (LIEF) grants which were announced today (Wednesday). The five ANU projects cover a range of disciplines from physical sciences to political science. The funding was announced by Senator Kim Carr, Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research. The research projects include a grant to Associate Professor Edith Sevick from the Research School of Chemistry to purchase equipment to investigate the energy dissipation of small systems such as molecules and membranes. Another grant, to Professor Deborah Mitchell of the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences, will allow for the establishment of an integrated research data archive for the social sciences and humanities. Other grant recipients include Professor Mark Humphrey, Dr Yin-Yin Wong-Leung and Professor Gordon Lister. The funding aims to support the purchase of essential equipment.
