Reviewing the Murray-Darling Guide
Ruin for farmers and communities, or giving the Murray-Darling Basin a sustainable future? The proposed changes to the Plan will be discussed at the Crawford School Dialogue tomorrow at The Australian National University. This conference is the first expert and independent assessment of the Guide Document to the Basin Plan. 'It brings together leading experts on the Murray-Darling Basin in terms of communities, environment, economy, law, Indigenous issues and other areas to present their key ideas,' said Professor R. Quentin Grafton, Director of the ANU Centre for Water Economics, Environment and Policy. Fifteen of Australia's leading experts will take part in tomorrow's dialogue including; ; Dr Daniel Connell, Crawford School, ANU, on governance and management frameworks. - ; Professor Chris Miller, Flinders University, on impact on communities. ; Professor John Quiggin, University of Queensland, on climate risk. ; Professor Richard Norris, University of Canberra, on environmental flows. ; Karlene Maywald, former Minister for the River Murray, SA, on environmental implications.
