Romanian authors continue to build cultural bridge

Four acclaimed Romanian authors will be in Plymouth in November to launch new books in the award winning series revealing the country's journey from the aftermath of the First World War to the development of Ceausescu's communism. The authors of the next books in the Romanian Writers Series: Ioan Es. Pop; Filip and Matei Florian; and Daniel Banulescu, will take part in a question and answer session hosted by BBC journalist Rosie Goldsmith ( Crossing Continents, A Word in Your Ear ). Romanian actress, Cristina Catalina ( Primeval, The Bill ) will read selected book passages and the launch will be followed by a three day Romanian music festival. MA Publishing programme manager and head of the University of Plymouth Press Paul Honeywill, said: "This is a landmark collection of the very best writing which has come from Romania during the past 100 years. We are proud to be building a cultural bridge with Romania, to counter the more negative stereotypes of orphaned children and too-eager migrants." The University of Plymouth Press received an International Enterprise award for the 20 Romanian Writers Series. The five year project is now in its second year.
