Student wins Undergraduate of the Year award
Leo Ijebor, a second-year BSc Computer Science with Management student from King's has won the IT and Computer Science Undergraduate of the Year award, organised by TARGETjobs.co.uk, one of the UK's leading graduate recruitment websites. The award was sponsored by the NHS and, through a series of online tests, application forms, interviews and assessment exercises, Leo emerged from 194 entrants to come out as the winner. The NHS only targeted a relatively small number of universities and so he beat off competition from other excellent students. Leo collected the award from Michael Portillo, host of the event, and Rob Farace, the National Resourcing Manager from the NHS. This award was one of eight presented on the day and each award was sponsored by a top graduate recruiter: KPMG, Ernst & Young, Morgan Stanley, Laing O'Rourke, npower, the NHS, Thales and Mayer Brown. Excited by his win, Leo said, ' I have a lot of things to be grateful to King's for, but by far the greatest is the amount of support and world-class teaching that it provides to students in an environment that will maximise their learning potential. I believe that a great number of the reasons why I won the award are attributable to what I have learned through studying at King's .' Rob Farace, National Resourcing Manager at the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement , commented, ' I was impressed by the dedication and commitment of all the finalists and they produced some really good presentations.
