Sustainable improvement of Hamburg’s teacher education

The project Professional Teachers- Activities to Promote Subject-Based Learning Under Changing Social Conditions (ProfaLe) ends after more than 8 years. In close collaboration with the Hamburg Center for Teacher Education researchers from Universität Hamburg worked intensively on innovations for Hamburg's teacher education, thus developing and testing basic measures in 4 action areas. All interested parties from research and education in practice can access their findings. Since its kickoff in 2015, about 100 researchers participated in the interdisciplinary project Professional Teachers- Activities to Promote Subject-Based Learning Under Changing Social Conditions (ProfaLe), aiming to increase the quality of teacher education in Hamburg and Germany. They focused on the 4 action areas cooperation of subjects and subject-specific didactics; linguistic-cultural heterogeneity; inclusion; and cross-phase cooperation. ProfaLe received a total of ¤12 million in funding from the Federal Ministry of Education for 2 funding periods.
