The Story of Wales

Cardiff history experts have contributed to BBC Cymru Wales' landmark series The Story of Wales which tells the story of the nation from 30,000 years ago. Presented by newsreader Huw Edwards, a Cardiff graduate and University Vice-President, The Story of Wales is a six-part series packed with heroes and triumphs, grand dreams and great endeavours. From a land of story-tellers, this is the story of the land itself and of the people who've shaped it. Amongst those sharing their expertise are Peter Guest, Alan Lane and Lloyd Bowen of the School of History, Archaeology and Religion. The Romans and Wales is the subject of Guest's appearance in the first programme in the series. An expert in Roman Archaeology, Guest and his team recently discovered a new monumental Roman suburb in Caerleon. Lane a senior lecturer in Archaeology at the School discusses Llangorse Crannog, Breacon and Wales Behind the Offa's Dyke in the second programme while Bowen, a Senior Lecturer in Early Modern and Welsh History, adds his knowledge of Cromwell and the Pembroke Castle Siege to the episode focusing on the relationship between England and Wales.
