Professor Dame Hazel Genn - Professor Dame Hazel Genn - As UCL heads towards its bicentenary in 2026, Professor Dame Hazel Genn has been appointed Pro-Provost (Bicentennial), helping ensure two centuries of pioneering research, innovative education and radical thinking, are celebrated in style. Dame Hazel is Professor of Socio-Legal Studies in the Faculty of Laws at UCL and Director of the UCL Centre for Access to Justice and Co-Founder of the UCL Judicial Institute. She served as Dean of the Faculty of Laws from 2008-2017, and more recently as Vice-Provost (International & Advancement) and Vice-President (External Engagement). As Pro-Provost (Bicentennial), Hazel will be responsible for all aspects of planning UCL's bicentenary celebrations, including alumni, community and stakeholder engagement, academic projects linked to the bicentenary, and an ongoing programme of legacy and impact activity. Commenting on her new appointment Dame Hazel said: "It is a real honour to take on this role at such an exciting time for UCL, as we celebrate our recent REF successes and look forward to the opening of UCL East this autumn. "It will be a pleasure to connect with UCL's wider community, including our students, staff, alumni, academic and industry partners, and donors - to plan and deliver an inspiring programme of events that marks and celebrates UCL's pioneering achievements over the past 200 years and signals the extraordinary impact that UCL will have over the next 200." UCL President & Provost Dr Michael Spence said: " I am really pleased to announce that Hazel Genn will take up the role of Pro-Provost (Bicentennial).
