University invites public to explore domestic space

University invites public to explore domestic space. The University of Sheffield will be inviting the public to interact with research on how we relate to the space we live in at the Inhabiting Space exhibition (30 May-11 June 2011). Inhabiting Space is a collaborative project by Sheffield-based researchers working in a range of academic disciplines. Each of the contributors is concerned with how people in different cultural and geographical contexts inhabit space. In particular, how do they make themselves at home in spaces that are anonymous, standard and that have been built by or for someone else? The researchers' aim in creating the exhibition is to bring new insights to their research through a dialogue both with each other but also with wider audiences beyond the university. By visualizing their research, they are inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the exhibits and to think about how they and others inhabit and make sense of domestic space. Amongst them is Professor Susan Reid from the Department of Russian and Slavonic Studies.
