University of Glasgow hosts royal Thai visit

The University of Glasgow has strengthened its ties with Thailand, after a two day visit from Professor Dr Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol. The princess, who holds a PhD in Chemistry and established the HRH Princess Chulabhorn College of Medical Science in Thailand, visited the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences on Friday 7 April and Monday 10 April. Principal and Vice Chancellor Professor Anton Muscatelli, along with Professor Dame Anna Dominiczak, welcomed HRH to the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and introduced her to the university's research and teaching vision for the future. The official visit was also attended by Vice Principal Professor Frank Coton, Vice Principal Professor Jim Conroy and Professor Matthew Walters, Head of the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing. The princess and her team also visited the university's Garscube campus, where they were greeted by Chancellor Professor Sir Kenneth Calman and Head of the School of Veterinary Medicine, Professor Ewan Cameron. The royal party were then taken on a tour of the Small Animal Hospital as well as the Weipers Centre Equine Hospital. Professor Muscatelli said: "We were honoured to welcome HRH Princess Chulabhorn to the University of Glasgow and show HRH some of our world-leading facilities.
