University of Sussex appoints new Head of Media, Film and Music. A founding figure in the development of digital culture and internet studies has been appointed as the new Head of the School of Media, Film and Music (MFM) at the University of Sussex. Professor Tim Jordan will join Sussex in October 2014 from King's College London (KCL), where he is Professor of Digital Cultures and has been Head of the Department of Culture, Media and Creative Industries. Professor Jordan began work at KCL in 2011, leading the development of research and teaching on digital culture; this included convening an MA in Digital Culture and Society and overseeing the development of a new BA in Digital Culture. Prior to 2011 he worked in sociology at the Open University for 11 years, during which he was Head of the Department of Sociology for a three-year term. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Michael Farthing, chaired the appointment panel. He said: "Tim has had broad administrative and organisational experience, combined with a wide teaching and research career.
