The University of Queensland's Customs House and Gatton Halls of Residence have both won Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence. The nationally recognised awards celebrate exceptional service and culinary talent across Queensland and the Northern Territory. Customs House Director Brian Roberts said the iconic heritage venue earnt first place in the Function / Convention Centre Caterer category. "This award is a fitting tribute to the Customs House team, who strive for excellence and aim to continually improve guest experiences," he said. "The team consistently provides a high level of service across all departments, including event planning, service delivery and meals. "Executive Chef John Offenhauser strives to deliver innovative food using local and sustainable produce, and we even have a mushroom farm on site. "Customs House is a unique, contemporary event space, complete with spectacular views of the Brisbane River and Story Bridge." More than 550 restaurants, cafes and catering businesses were involved in the awards, which were judged across 38 categories.
