VIP guests visit the University
In April the University will be receiving many VIP guests who work or have worked with human rights in organisations including the United Nations and the EU. The lecturers include Kofi Annan, Margot Wallström, Thomas Hammarberg and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay, among others. The Government has decided to commemorate Raoul Wallenberg, who would have turned 100 this year, with various events and activities. In Lund his life is being commemorated at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute, which has worked under his name since 1984 to promote and teach human rights. On 24 April lectures will be held on the theme of "Human rights and individual responsibility" in the main assembly hall in the main University building. On the following day, a panel discussion will be held at Kulturen under the heading "Prevent, protect and punish". The invited guests will include a number of ambassadors, as well as Raoul Wallenberg's sister, Nina Lagergren, and Hanna Rosenbaum, President Obama's special adviser on issues concerning anti-Semitism.
