Watch: The importance of stem cell research

UCL's Dr Adam Giangreco explains why he views stem cell research as holding the most promise for medical breakthroughs over the coming decades, in this short film to mark International Stem Cell Awareness Day. Dr Giangreco is a recent recipient of a major European Research Council grant and is based in the UCL Centre for Respiratory Research. Here he describes how he is exploring new treatments for lung damage and why funding stem cell research is so vital.
