The University Hospital Magdeburg A.ö.R. employs around 4,100 staff (including the medical faculty) in more than 20 institutes and 25 clinics. With about 1,100 planned beds, it is the largest hospital in Magdeburg[2] and in northern Saxony-Anhalt. The current Medical Director of the University Hospital is Hans-Jochen Heinze. The current Dean of the Medical Faculty at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg is the biochemist Prof. Dr. Daniela Dieterich[3]. Previously, her predecessor Prof. Dr. Hermann-Josef Rothkötter headed the medical faculty for twelve years.
