Jena University Hospital, with a history stretching back over 200 years, is the only university hospital in Thuringia. Our tradition of medical teaching is even older - as one of the founding faculties of Jena University, the Medical Faculty can look back on the experience of over 450 years. Today, the University Hospital is the largest employer in the region with over 5,600 employees. Every year, more than 300,000 inpatients and outpatients are treated at our 26 clinics and polyclinics. 2,400 medical and dental students learn medical science here, and scientists from over 25 nations conduct research on the further development of medicine at 25 institutes.
