Work assignmentsThis position focuses on the development of theoretically grounded and practically scalable decentralized learning algorithms under realistic system constraints, including communication limitations, adversarial conditions, continual and adaptive learning in dynamic environments. The research will combine tools from distributed optimization, stochastic approximation, information theory, and learning theory to design efficient and robust decentralized AI systems. As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours. QualificationsTo be qualified to take employment as postdoc, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. This degree must have been awarded at the latest by the point at which LiU makes its decision to employ you. It is considered advantageous if your doctoral degree is no older than three years at application deadline for this job. If there are special reasons for having an older doctoral degree - such as taking statutory leave - then these may be taken into consideration. We are looking for candidates with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, a strong mathematical background and a strong publication record in journals relevant to the research field. As the university operates in an international environment, you need to have good communication skills and be proficient in English, both orally and in writing. In this role, it is essential to take initiative and drive work forward with a clear focus on goals and results. You demonstrate strong pedagogical skills and tailor your communication to suit the audience. You are meticulous, quality-conscious, and committed to meeting high standards. Additionally, you possess solid analytical skills and approach complex problems in a structured and solution-oriented manner. The workplaceYou will work at the Division of Communication Systems at the Department of Electrical Engineering. The Division of Communication Systems conducts research and education in communications engineering, statistical signal processing, network science, and decentralized machine learning. The employmentThis employment is a temporary contract of two years with the possibility of extension up to a total maximum of three years. The employment is full-time. Starting date by agreement.
