This course will help students become familiar with the basic concepts of the Canadian legal systems, civil law and common law, the legal research and writing norms, as well as the expectations of Canadian academic communities. In this seminar, student will have to the opportunity to make a presentation and write an essay on a legal issue. These rates do not included vacation pay nor statutory pay. These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified. Retro will be paid after the ratification. Course type: B Posting type: Régulier / Regular Language of instruction: Anglais English Competence in second language: Passive Course Schedule: - - - Thursday 1:00PM - 3:50PM Requirements: The Common Law Section is seeking candidates who have the expertise, skills, vision, and energy to reinforce uOttawa-s position as a leader in graduate education in law. An LL.B., J.D., or equivalent is required for this position. A PhD in law is preferred but not essential. Membership in the Law Society of Ontario, or equivalent, in good standing is preferred. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in legal research and writing at the graduate level, knowledge mobilization and interdisciplinary research, and the expectations of the Canadian academic communities. Familiarity with basic concepts of the Canadian legal systems, civil law and common law is also required. The successful candidate must also have prior teaching experience in those areas and teaching experience at the graduate level. The Common Law Section reserves the right to select a candidate who does not fully meet each of these requirements, where the candidate-s selection would be beneficial to the program, the course, the students or for a related reason.
