Acting Vice-Chancellor of The Australian National University, Professor Lawrence Cram, has congratulated all winners of the National Health and Medical Research Council Project Grants announced today - especially projects involving ANU researchers. The grants will see ANU researchers tackle a range of medical research, including $1 million for the Centre for Mental Health Research's Path Through Life project. Other projects will look at the link between insomnia and major depressive disorders and conduct research into anti-malarial drug resistance. 'Congratulations to all of the ANU researchers who have been successful in the NHMRC Project Grants funding scheme,' said Professor Cram. ?The research that will flow from these grants will contribute, in many vital areas, to the future health of the nation. The projects will increase our understanding of the consequences of mental health disorders as well as testing for prostate cancer. 'I'm delighted to see such a broad range of research receive funding and look forward to seeing the results of the researchers? work in the years to come,? he said.
