In 2021-2022, Statistical Consulting Service professionals participated in 130 faculty and research team research projects at the University for a total of 1379 hours. They also participated in 45 external client projects for a total of 794 hours. For nearly 40 years, the Statistical Consulting Service has been assisting faculty, students and external clients with their research projects Paul Fortin, rheumatologist, professor in the Department of Medicine and clinical researcher at the Centre de recherche du CHU de Québec - Université Laval, is currently conducting a clinical study on patients with systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. Treated with a monoclonal antibody, they will receive a4th or5th dose of vaccine for COVID-19 as part of a mixed vaccination strategy. This study is one of the research projects in which experts from the Statistical Consulting Service of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of Laval University are currently involved. "The goal of the project is to determine whether COVID-19 booster doses are safe and effective in this patient population," explains statistician Anne-Sophie Julien. To do this, the patient must provide data regarding observed side effects and disease activity.
