A schoolboy explores the dinosaur exhibits
A herd of Spinosaurus dinosaur skeletons is invading the Oxford University Museum of Natural History from Monday 21 to Sunday 27 November 2011. The event is part of the BBC's Planet Dinosaur TV programme and visitors will be offered the chance to build a Spinosaurus skeleton. Groups will be taken around the Museum by its education staff on a tour exploring recent dinosaur discoveries. Janet Stott, head of education at the museum, said: 'The Planet Dinosaur sessions offer a exceptional opportunity for school children and families to construct a unique BBC dinosaur skeleton from a pile of bones. It is great to see how just how excited they are as the full Spinosaurus emerges! Working with the BBC on this project has allowed us to offer an amazing range of resources including skeletons to construct, films to watch in 3D and the chance to handle real dinosaur fossils. The BBC have created a timeline detailing some of the dinosaurs featured in Planet Dinosaur and have used footage from the show to create a five-minute 3D video clip. The event is open to the public from 3.45pm to 4.45pm Monday to Friday and from 10am to 4pm at the weekend.
