Disability professionals examine new trends in support
19 July 2013 - The University of Sydney's Centre for Disability Studies (CDS) will host a conference bringing together disability professionals from all over Australia on Monday 22 and Tuesday, 23 July. The theme of the conference, The new workplace: professionalism, disability care and inclusion , is relevant to the recent introduction of DisabilityCare Australia. The conference will include dedicated workshops across a range of sub-themes, including: Person-centred support Disability employment, job search and 'on the job' Gaining support for the carer professional Ongoing professional development New environment, new ways Supporting health, well-being and behaviour of concern. Keynote guest speakers include: John O'Brien and Connie Lyle O'Brien (USA): Connie Lyle O'Brien and John O'Brien advise people with disabilities and their families, advocacy groups, service providers, and governments on how to build more inclusive communities. They work in partnership with a group of friends and campaigners from 12 countries and are affiliated with the Center on Human Policy, Law & Disability Studies (USA), inControl Partnerships (UK), and the Marsha Forest Centre: Inclusion.
