Durham University embarks on international academic recruitment drive. Durham University has announced plans for the biggest international recruitment drive in its history to build on its position as a leading university for global research and education. The University is planning to attract 50 additional professors and senior academics who are internationally recognised intellectual experts and research leaders in science, social science and arts or humanities. Durham University's research is recognised amongst the best in the world, making a real difference to the issues which matter to the global society. The University, a member of the Russell Group of leading research-intensive universities, is ranked 26th in the world * (Times Higher Education 2012) for the international impact of its research as measured by citations. Its research in specific areas of science, such as space science and cosmology has been ranked 1st in Europe and 4th in the world (* Reuters), and its social sciences and humanities research are both ranked in the world top-50.
