But this doesn't necessarily have to be that way, as researchers from Empa demonstrate. Ecological construction is all the rage. Aspects such as the sustainability and energy efficiency of buildings are crucial. Consequently, building contractors and architects are increasingly turning to wood as a construction material because the renewable raw material is both brown and green. Sure enough, wood has many plus points, but also a whole series of challenges.
