A campus in a city on the East Coast, for sure. A school that was strong in both majors she was considering-engineering and international studies. For Azmi, who grew up in a working-class immigrant family in Manassas, Virginia, and would be the first in her family to attend college, financial aid was also critical. She began by researching private universities that offered strong need-based aid packages. This was nonnegotiable.
