Funding Extension for the German-Peruvian Postgraduate Program trAndeS

Joint research initiative on inequalities and sustainability renewed for a further five years. No 012/2021 from Jan 25, 2021 A German-Peruvian postgraduate program jointly organized by Freie Universität Berlin and Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), is set to receive funding for a further five years. "trAndeS - Postgraduate Program on Sustainable Development and Social Inequalities in the Andean Region" has received funding approval for 2.5 million euros from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) as part of the "SDG Graduate Schools" program of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The abbreviation "trAndeS" - derived from transandino - embodies the project's mission to foster discussions on sustainability and inequality throughout the entire Andes region. The objective of the program is to contribute to sustainable development in the region with the knowledge gained through its research. Through a transnational sustainability network, trAndeS brings together experts from the region to create a greater exchange of experiences between different actors, universities, and non-university institutions and to strengthen and enrich the debate on sustainable societies. Participants involved in the project from Freie Universität Berlin include Professor Marianne Braig, Professor Barbara Fritz, Dr. Bettina Schorr, and Professor Brigitta Schütt, while Dr. Gerardo Damonte Valencia, Dr. Narda Henriquez Ayin, and Dr. Ana Sabogal represent PUCP, the official headquarters of the program in Lima.
