Canberra gamers will put their imaginations and brainpower to the test creating computer games aimed at changing the world this weekend at The Australian National University. The Imagine Cup Game Camp, hosted by the ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science, is a free two-day games development workshop. The event is part of Microsoft's Imagine Cup and will include a speaker from Microsoft to lead participants through the steps in making a computer game. The event will also include industry guest speakers from local game studios in Canberra. At the end of the two days prizes will be awarded. Thavidu Ranatunga, of the Computer Science Students Association at the ANU hopes this weekend's event might create a game that could win the international Imagine Cup world finals in 2011. 'The idea behind Imagine Cup is for people to use their knowledge and creativity and challenge themselves to come up with games that will basically change the world,' said Thavidu.
