How do COVID-19 vaccines work and are they safe’

We asked some of UCL's public health experts to explain how the COVID-19 vaccines work and how we know they're safe. UCL public health experts Professor Ibrahim Abubakar (Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology) and Professor Robert Aldridge (Professor of Public Health Data Science), along with Dr Claire Elliott, GP at Ridgmount Practice, answer some questions about the COVID-19 vaccine in the videos below. How do the COVID-19 vaccines work?. How do we know the vaccines are safe?. COVID-19 vaccines are being offered to everyone aged 18 or over at local sites run by GPs or community pharmacies, at larger vaccination centres and in some hospitals. Some local NHS areas are also working with partners to set up "pop up" clinics. Remember to register with a GP to make sure you're invited to get your COVID-19 vaccine as soon as you're eligible.
