Kirk to head Science College

Professor Kiaran Kirk has been appointed as the Dean of the ANU College of Medicine, Biology and Environment. He will take up the role in April next year. Professor Kirk has been with ANU since 1996, coming initially from the University of Oxford to head the then Faculty of Science's Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He has held a succession of senior leadership positions at the University, and he has been a member of the University Council. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ian Young AO, said that Professor Kirk is a natural leader and an outstanding scientist. "He is widely recognised for his teaching and research supervision. He has won both University and national teaching awards and he delivered this year's 'Last Lecture'- an award that was voted on by students.
