Sussex neuroscientist to edit new OUP journal. A University of Sussex neuroscientist is to edit a new academic journal on consciousness from the Oxford University Press (OUP). Anil Seth , Professor of Cognitive and Computational Neuroscience at Sussex, will be Editor-in-Chief of the new Open Access journal, Neuroscience of Consciousness , which OUP is launching in partnership with the Association for the Scientific Study of Consciousness ( ASSC ). Professor Seth, who is co-Director of the Sackler Centre for Consciousness Science at the University, said: "Consciousness is at once one of the most familiar and most mysterious aspects of our existence, and it remains one of the final, big questions of biology. "The neuroscience of consciousness is one of the most exciting and fast-moving areas of modern science. "In recent years, the scientific study of consciousness has rapidly expanded and matured, engaging neuroscientists, clinicians, psychologists, mathematicians, philosophers, and computer scientists. " Neuroscience of Consciousness will provide a focus for this accelerating research agenda, and through its partnership with the ASSC I am confident the new journal will become the outlet of choice for the very best research in this fundamental area of science." In a statement announcing the launch of the new journal, OUP said: "This rapidly expanding field has, until now, lacked a single outlet, with key advances reported across many different journals.
