New service to help graduates into work
New graduates are finding the job market tougher this year, as they may be competing with those from last year who are still searching for work. The Careers & Employability service at the University of Plymouth has risen to the challenge and has put together a programme of help, advice and workshops to increase graduates' confidence and help them gain employment. Every Tuesday from 22 June until 31 August, a special drop in service will be available in the University Gateway for University of Plymouth graduates from the past three years who are still looking for work. Those who have jobs but would like to improve their career prospects can also get help and advice. Gateway staff will be on hand between 10am and 3pm to answer their questions. They can also make an appointment to have covering letters, CVs and application forms checked to increase their chances of getting an interview. "Many graduates think that we are closed over the summer and that they will have to wait until September for help," said Careers Information Assistant Jo Davies.
