Plymouth University rises in national rankings

Plymouth University has seen its performance improve for the third year running in a leading independent assessment of institutions around the country. It has jumped three places and is now ranked 58th out of 116 institutions in the annual Times Good University Guide , published today. And it’s the first time in five years that Plymouth has broken into the top 60 institutions overall in the assessment – widely recognised as one of the main national indicators of university standards. Plymouth is among the top ten universities in the country for providing courses in Agriculture and Forestry; Building; and Hospitality, Leisure, Sport, Recreation and Tourism. It’s also in the top 20 for its Food Science, Medicine – run in partnership by Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry – and Architecture courses. Despite the tough economic climate nationally, Plymouth also received praise for its graduate prospects – such as securing employment – rising in this area from 91st to 53rd place. Bill Rammell, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University, said: “We are pleased with the latest results – and, significantly, have now improved our position in all three of the major national league tables published so far this year.
